Shopping: There is a great selection of groceries available. Plaza Mar is up the hill from the Petrosun Gas station in Coxen Hole, Eldon’s Grocery is located in Coxen Hole. For a real island experience, trucks drive around the West End and are loaded with delicious vegetables and fresh fruits.

Restaurants: The closest area to Gibson Bight Marina is West End. There one can watch the sunset from Sundowner’s Bar. After a cold drink, there are many restaurants within walking distance. There are also great Mexican, Italian, and Thai food available.

Day Trips from Gibson Bight Marina:

A must do day trip includes taking a water taxi from West End to West Bay. West Bay Beach is renown as one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. The shallow waters are perfect for young children, snorkeling, and picnics. Close to the beach is a wonderful area named Gumbalimba Park.  Go there to see the island’s history, play with monkeys, parrots and view all of the island’s natural plant life. Maya Key is Roatan’s newest attraction located in the harbor of Coxen Hole. Here one can visit a reconstruction of Copan’s famous Maya ruins, a native arts and crafts studio, enjoy snorkeling of a beautiful beach and stroll through lush gardens.
